Manicure & Pedicure are the fundamental nail treatments for any nail technician, to improve the condition and appearance of both skin and nails. You will learn:

- Procedure for a standard manicure & pedicure.

Most centres are only a short walk from public transport links, or with parking on-site or locally. We keep our class sizes small (typically only 4-12 students per tutor) to give you every opportunity to ask questions and get support on your training days. Our in-house Support Team are available by email during your studies and beyond to give you the best start to your beauty career.
General Course Information
Entry Requirements
You must be aged 16 years or over to attend our classroom courses. This course is suitable for complete beginners to nails / beauty. No previous training or qualifications required.
Course Duration / Timings
This course is completed within 1 day. The course duration is 6 hours, you will attend from 10am – 4pm with a short break for lunch. Please arrive at 9.45am for a prompt course start.
Dress Code
If you have beauty uniform (tunic, fitted trousers etc.) this would be ideal. Otherwise smart, comfortable clothing suitable for the practical nature of the courses, such as short sleeved t-shirt with trousers or leggings would be suitable. Shoes must have a closed toe and flat sole. No flip flops / sandals for safety. Long hair (as applicable) should be tied back. Valuables such as jewellery should be removed and left at home.
Course Structure
Structure:
You will attend for 1 day from 10am – 4pm with a short break for lunch. The course is very much hands-on practical throughout the day. Short introduction on the theory followed by tutor demonstration & practical work by students. There are no exams or case studies required, your competence is assessed informally by the tutor throughout the training day.
Models:
No models are required for this course. Students will work upon each other giving and receiving treatments as part of this course. Gel nail polish / nail extensions must be removed before attending this course. You will be expected to fully participate in the course to successfully achieve your certificate.
You will need to bring:
Cold food (salad or sandwich) for your lunch. Clean hand towel for personal use on the course. Pen/paper if you wish to make any brief notes.
Kits:
No kit is included in the course fee. All products / tools required to complete this course as provided at the centre for your use on the training day. Guidance will be given on the day by the tutor about products / suppliers so we recommend waiting to buy any kits. If you would like a convenient way to source products to begin offering treatments immediately following your training day, you may wish to view the following optional starter kit:

We have 10 training centre locations including: London Kings Cross, London Clapham Junction, London Bridge, Reading, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle.
All training centre locations are our own exclusive, permanent training facilities are set up, ready to train all-year round. Our centres are highly equipped and staffed by our friendly, fully qualified and experienced tutors. We never train from hotel rooms, conference suites or in-salons to ensure you get the best possible learning experience in spacious, well appointed and easily accessible locations.
All training centres can be reached by public transport. Many centres also have parking on-site or within reasonable walking distance.

What You Can Achieve on Completion
Certification
On successful attendance of your training day, you will be sent The Beauty Academy Diploma by email within 24 working hours of your course. This is accredited by ABT (Associated Beauty Therapists) allowing you to purchase insurance to work offering your treatments to the public.
Career Opportunities
Upon completion of your course, you can start your own business working from home or mobile offering your treatments.
Some salons may also accept you for self-employed or employed opportunities, although this does vary across the UK and is dependent on individual salon/employer requirements for their insurance and/or local authority special treatment licensing (as applicable). For those specifically seeking employment or to work outside the UK beyond training, you may wish to consider our International Qualifications.
Insurance on Completion
Our Diploma is accepted by a number of leading beauty (public liability) insurers including Balens, Radius, InSync and many more. It will cover you when providing treatments to the public, but many policies also provide additional benefits such as covering your kit for loss/damage, risk of damage to client property while providing treatments in their home and legal assistance.
You do not need any insurance to attend our courses as you will be covered by our company insurance on the training day(s). This is just for when you start working with the public as a therapist yourself.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day thanks to my lovely tutor Majella. She was friendly, helpful and made learning so much fun.
The class was small and intimate which allowed us a lot more practice and 1-1 learning with the tutor which was great. The venue was clean, tidy and well equipped.
All around great experience and would recommend to anyone wanting to try it out to boost their skills and have fun.

As a first timer with no previous knowledge of nails, I was worried how the course would go. I left with lots of knowledge and good practice techniques. The tutor was brilliant and answered all questions I had. Going forward I feel more confident on my journey to become a Nail Technician.

Sheral was an amazing tutor. There was so much to fit into the day but she structured it so cleverly so that we got to see her demonstrate every skill and had the opportunity to practice each skill as well. She stayed next to us so that she could advise if necessary. She was there to ask answer my millions of questions and was patient and very knowledgeable. Having a small group was great as we got to work in pairs and have plenty of time with Sheral. Sheral also had everything prepared for when we arrived and was constantly making sure we had everything we needed and helping to tidy etc. I would definitely want to train with her again!

Throughout the training, Katy emphasised the importance of health and safety in nail treatments. She provided in-depth knowledge on maintaining a clean and hygienic workspace, ensuring the well-being of both the client and the technician.
Katy’s extensive knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the skin and nails was evident as she explained the different structures and their functions. This understanding greatly enhanced our ability to assess and address various nail concerns.
During the course, Katy guided us through the consultation procedure, teaching us how to gather relevant information and identify any contra-indications to the treatments. Her attention to detail and emphasis on client consultation equipped us with the skills to customise treatments according to individual needs.
The hands-on training for standard manicure and pedicure procedures was invaluable. Katy demonstrated each step with precision, and then provided us with the opportunity to practise under her guidance. She was patient and encouraging, ensuring we mastered each technique.
One of the highlights of the course was learning about luxury aspects, such as the use of heated mitts/booties and paraffin wax. Katy taught us their benefits and how to incorporate them into our services to elevate the overall experience for our clients.
Overall, I am extremely grateful for Katy’s expertise and guidance throughout the Manicure & Pedicure training course. Her passion for nail care and dedication to our success as nail technicians was evident in every aspect of the training. I signed up for the one day course at the Manchester Beauty Academy. Being more advanced in my years, I was a bit apprehensive, but I needn’t have worried. Karen was an excellent tutor and made all of us feel at home. We made the most of her extensive knowledge gained from years of working in the industry. Karen was encouraging and reassuring. All products were provided for our use and we gained a detailed knowledge of their application and what techniques are required to successfully complete the treatments. I think I can safely say that all of us had a great learning experience with plenty of laughs along the way. the venue was easy to get to being close to Piccadilly station. I would wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone considering taking the leap into the beauty profession at what ever level and for whatever reason.
