Most centres are only a short walk from public transport links, or with parking on-site or locally. We keep our class sizes small (typically only 4-12 students per tutor) to give you every opportunity to ask questions and get support on your training days. Our in-house Support Team are available by email during your studies and beyond to give you the best start to your beauty career.
General Course Information
Entry Requirements
You must be aged 16 years or over to attend our classroom courses. This course is suitable for complete beginners to skincare / beauty. No previous training or qualifications required. You will need to be free from contra-indications to facial treatments and must not have received cosmetic facial procedures within 6 weeks prior to the course. Students will give and receive treatments on the training day.
Course Duration / Timings
This course is completed within 1 day. The course duration is 6 hours, you will attend from 10am – 4pm with a short break for lunch. Please arrive at 9.45am for a prompt course start.
Dress Code
If you have beauty uniform (tunic, fitted trousers etc.) this would be ideal. Otherwise smart, comfortable clothing suitable for the practical nature of the courses, such as short sleeved t-shirt with trousers or leggings would be suitable. Shoes must have a closed toe and flat sole. No flip flops / sandals for safety. Long hair (as applicable) should be tied back. Valuables such as jewellery should be removed and left at home.
Course Structure
Structure:
You will attend for 1 day from 10am – 4pm with a short break for lunch. The course is very much hands-on practical throughout the day. Short introduction on the theory followed by tutor demonstration & practical work by students. There are no exams or case studies required, your competence is assessed informally by the tutor throughout the training day.
Models:
No models are required for this course. Students will need to give and receive treatments on the training day working with other students. You will need to be free from contra-indications to facial treatments and must not have received cosmetic facial procedures within 6 weeks prior to the course.
You will need to bring:
Cold food (salad or sandwich) for your lunch. Clean hand towel for personal use on the course. Pen/paper if you wish to make any brief notes.
Kits:
No kit is included in the course fee. All products / tools required to complete this course as provided at the centre for your use on the training day. Guidance will be given on the day by the tutor about products / suppliers so we recommend waiting to buy any kits. If you would like a convenient way to source products to begin offering treatments immediately following your training day, you may wish to view the following optional starter kit:

All training centre locations are our own exclusive, permanent training facilities are set up, ready to train all-year round. Our centres are highly equipped and staffed by our friendly, fully qualified and experienced tutors. We never train from hotel rooms, conference suites or in-salons to ensure you get the best possible learning experience in spacious, well appointed and easily accessible locations.
All training centres can be reached by public transport. Many centres also have parking on-site or within reasonable walking distance.

It was a wonderful and fun learning experience with Majella . She made me feel very comfortable in the class as it was my first ever skincare class. Her method of teaching was very relaxed and systematic too . That made it very easy to understand all the aspects of facial and skincare . I did my second training course yesterday at the reading centre. Gigi was the tutor. She is amazing, so lovely and made us all feel so comfortable and really enthusiastic. I can’t wait to do my next course. I was worried on both courses I would be the oldest there but it’s a real mix of all ages and backgrounds. I completed this course today and I am so happy with how it was delivered. From purchasing the course to receiving my certificate the whole journey has been amazing and so smooth. Katy the trainer in Birmingham is fantastic. She is so passionate and enthusiastic and explains everything so well without any hesitations or judgement. I wasn’t thinking of doing anymore courses with the academy but because of how happy I am with how it has all gone and how much I enjoyed it I have decided to do a few more courses. My certificate was emailed a few hours after completing the course! Honestly so impressed and so excited for the future thanks to The Beauty Academy.

What an amazing day learning all about the skin and facial cleaning & massage with Donna, felt right at ease as soon as I arrived, Donna is amazing friendly and most of all she knows everything you need to know she is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to the beauty industry. Hoping to do the facial acid course if it comes to Newcastle as it’s too far to travel to Manchester for just 3 hours and a few others to help me on my way. I attended the Facial Massage and Skincare course with Lisa this week. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt so much. Lisa was brilliant and gave us so much helpful information. Makes such a difference having a friendly and supportive teacher. She went through demonstrations twice if needed, to make sure we all knew what we were doing and answered our questions in depth. She covered so much and has so much knowledge that she wanted to share to ensure each student got as much out of the day as possible. Having tried other courses and being disappointed with other training providers, I was hesitant to book. My experience though was that Karen was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I went away from the day feeling inspired to practice what I’d learnt and confident with how she’d taught that I’d be able to continue with the practice myself. Thank you Karen. This course was so interesting. This was my first time ever entering the beauty world, and the tutor was so kind and welcoming. The facilities and space were fantastic. I liked that we got the course notes before the date of the course to read through, and then on the day we went through essentials and also had a large amount of practical learning with the chance to practice giving facial treatments. As well as the content of the treatment, we were also given so many tips and advice on stuff about setting up your own practice. The tutor Rachel was absolutely lovely and very very good at her job. She was a great role model in how to act as a professional in the beauty industry and I loved how she went out of her way to compliment each one of us by saying something positive about our appearance. Her teaching approach was sensitive, she was full of knowledge she shared and she was very good with managing the group in a humourous and nurturing way. Very inspiring lady.

I recently took part in an amazing Facial Massage & Skincare training course, led by the fabulous trainer Katy. It was an eye-opening experience that gave me a wealth of knowledge and skills to enhance my skincare treatments.
Right from the get-go, the course emphasised the importance of keeping our clients safe. Katy meticulously covered all health and safety aspects related to facial skincare treatments, ensuring that we can provide a secure and enjoyable environment for our clients.
Anatomy and physiology of the skin were also taught in a way that made it easy to understand. It was fascinating to learn about the different layers of the skin and how they contribute to its overall health. This knowledge has been invaluable in assessing and addressing my clients’ skincare needs.
The consultation techniques taught during the course were a game-changer for me. I now feel confident in conducting thorough consultations with my clients, allowing me to customise treatments that target their specific concerns and conditions. It’s all about giving them that personalised touch!
Understanding contraindications was another crucial part of the training. Katy made sure we were well-versed in recognising potential risks and limitations, equipping us to adjust our treatments accordingly and prioritise our clients’ well-being.
The hands-on part of the course was incredibly fulfilling. I learned the step-by-step process of delivering a facial skincare treatment, from cleansing and toning to performing a skin analysis, applying masks and moisturisers, and even incorporating a relaxing facial massage. This holistic approach has taken my treatments to a whole new level, leaving my clients feeling pampered and refreshed.
The course stressed the importance of homecare and aftercare advice. Taking care of our skin doesn’t end when the treatment does. Katy made sure we understood how to guide our clients on maintaining the benefits of their facial treatments at home, so they can continue to enjoy healthy and radiant skin.
In conclusion, attending the Facial Massage & Skincare training course with trainer Katy has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my career. The course offered a comprehensive understanding of effective facial treatments and armed me with the necessary skills to excel in the skincare industry. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their knowledge and elevate their offerings for clients.
