This course covers preparation, planning and basic course design. You will also gain teaching delivery skills and participate in micro-teaching sessions. Evaluation skills and techniques also form part of the course content. This qualification provides a sound introduction to teaching/training and is suitable for both experienced practitioners who would like to secure a professionally recognised qualification as well as those new to teaching.

During this qualification, you will cover the following units:

• Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training

The aim of this unit is to enable you to understand the role and responsibilities of a teacher in education and training and the relationship between different professionals within education and training.

• Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training

The aim of this unit is to enable you to understand and use inclusive teaching and learning approaches to meet the needs of learners. This includes how to create a learning environment that engages and motivates learners, and the planning, delivery and evaluation of inclusive teaching and learning. You are required to deliver a microteaching session and to evaluate your own delivery practice.

• Understanding assessment in education and training

The aim of this unit is to enable you to understand how different types and methods of assessment are used in education and training. This includes ways to involve learners in assessment and requirements for record keeping.

All material for your qualification will be accessible on our e-learning platform. This can be accessed and completed from anywhere, even on mobile devices. You will need a high speed, stable internet connection to access our online portal.

You will need a good command of written / spoken English to complete the coursework required for this course.

You will complete all your written coursework assignments on computer and submit them to us for marking. These are completed guided by our comprehensive e-tutorials online, ensuring you confidently gain the knowledge of effective teaching methods to complete the work required.

You will also design, plan and present two short micro-teaching sessions. These are then delivered from home (or any other suitable environment such as in-salon) with a minimum of 2 friends / family / colleagues acting as your learners. You will record each session and submit your videos, along with your written and practical coursework pdf packs to us for evaluation.

No attendance of our centres is required for this course. It is completed flexibly and conveniently online from home. Study at your own pace, taking up to 12 months should you need it to achieve your certification.

There are no formal pre-requisite qualifications that you must have prior to undertaking this qualification.

However, it is advised you have relevant industry experience and hold ABT accredited qualification(s) within the beauty treatments you will be looking to teach. Having such qualifications will give you the best opportunity for have your own academy / courses accredited by ABT and ensure you are eligible to obtain suitable insurance to teach.

Students will need to have previously achieved GCSE English or equivalent to ensure you have a good command of spoken and written English to be successful within the qualification. Students will need access to a pc to complete coursework.  The portal resources can be viewed on tablet or mobile for the purposes of learning on the go, however we recommend studying on pc, laptop or high spec tablet to complete the coursework for this course.

You will need a high speed, stable internet connection to access the learning resources and coursework online via our student portal.

This course is open to all students of any age. No restrictions to take the course, although most insurers will typically only cover those aged 18+ years to teach.

Upon completion of this course, you will have the skills and confidence to devise your own beauty courses (covering those treatments within which you also hold ABT Accredited diplomas e.g., through The Beauty Academy).

Gain public liability insurance including treatment risks and with a teaching extension, to ensure you are covered to provide training.

Apply to ABT to become an accredited training provider and have your courses accredited. The process is simple and straightforward requiring you to submit copies of your course lesson plan(s), resource(s) and copy of your academy’s certificate.

Once accredited, you will be able to advertise and deliver your ABT accredited courses to your own students. On completion of your courses, your own students will be able to obtain public liability (beauty) insurance through ABT to begin offering their treatments to the public.
