ABT Qualifications

These awards are accredited by ABT and recognised for insurance. This is ideal to give greater confidence to your future clients, further training providers or indeed potential employers. This is the qualification route of choice particularly for those looking to start their own beauty business from home or mobile. Learn about the course structure & requirements here.

ABT qualifications are a great way to get started with a lower cost than VTCT qualifications and less requirements to achieve this (no formal exams!). Students can upgrade their ABT Accredited Qualification to VTCT by offsetting their ABT course fee against the VTCT course fee, should you find you later require the VTCT award*. 

VTCT Qualifications

These awards are accredited by VTCT and are internationally recognised / OFQUAL regulated. Widely accepted by employers, this is the qualification route of choice for those seeking work in a salon, spa or skin clinic. It is also ideal for those who want to progress to advanced training such as Aesthetics. Learn about the course structure & requirements here.

*Upgrade to VTCT must be completed within 12 months of enrolling on the ABT course. Level 2 Awards suitable for complete beginners. We recommend students have a good understanding of English & require access to a pc / internet.

What will I need to do?

For ABT Accredited Courses:

You’ll attend your practical training days (you pick these dates when booking), plus you’ll have access to course e-manuals and step by step video demonstrations on our online student portal to reinforce your learning. You’ll complete a short quiz online to check your understanding of the theory (you can retake for free, instantly as often as you need to achieve 70% or above). You’ll also practice your treatments at home on friends / family to complete a small number of case studies.

For VTCT Courses:

You’ll complete the same learning structure as for ABT Accredited Courses above, but will also have written coursework assignments (completed using support from an e-textbook provided on our portal) and a larger number of case studies required. You’ll also complete formal written exams online (multiple choice) and attend for 1-3 days of practical assessment per qualification.

What are the pre-requirements for these courses?

Both ABT and VTCT Level 2 Qualifications are suitable for complete beginners to beauty.

We recommend you have good knowledge of English (GCSE level or equivalent).

You will need access to a pc with high speed, stable internet connection.

You will need basic products / tools and models (friends / family) to practice upon following your training days. You will not need to commit to any kits until after attending training days as you’ll get advice about brands / suppliers on your training days.
