Spotlight on Success – Jade Coleman

Continuing with our Spotlight on Success highlighting graduates of The Beauty Academy who have successfully gone into industry, we are celebrating wonderful Jade Coleman!

Jade started her learning with us back in May 2023, enrolling for VTCT Level 2 in Facials & Level 3 in Electrical Facials. She has also completed our ABT Accredited Courses within:

  • Highly Defined Brows
  • Dermaplaning
  • Microneedling
  • Skin Peels
  • LED Light Facial Therapy
  • Builder Gel in a Bottle Nails

We asked Jade how she has found training with our Academy; “What I love about training with The Beauty Academy is that you get to experience the treatment first hand by practising upon each other. I think that is really important to know how it feels and the results you can expect. With each training session we not only learned the practical elements but also the theory related to the course such as contra-indications, skin types, recommended pricing, product brands and insurance. I love that the courses are so in-depth despite being fast track. The process of completing treatments is often broken down into segments, allowing you to practice and correct each stage before the next which I found really helped me to learn and feel confident.”

Speaking of how she decided to book with us, she said; “I completed so much research on different courses available, course content and costs. Funding the courses myself, the low cost courses offered by other schools were naturally appealing but it was important for me to a thorough learning experience with an established provider, where practical work was included. The fact The Beauty Academy courses are accredited by ABT was a huge selling point for me. The wide variety of courses offered by The Beauty Academy has enabled me to train in everything I wanted in one place, for the successful launch of my business.”

We were interested to hear what brought Jade to the idea of training in beauty; “I’ve always had a passion for beauty therapy and believed that self-care is important for contributing to a positive sense of wellbeing. I wanted to help people with their skin concerns, to give them the confidence to feel better within themselves.”

I want to show people that it is possible to get great looking skin without invasive procedures or fillers!”

We asked Jade what she loves most about the beauty industry. Jade said, “the best thing about working in beauty is when a client looks in the mirror and you see that instant reaction of satisfaction from their treatment. Their skin is glowing, they’re relaxed and they have a true sense of wellbeing.”

“The industry is so fast paced and I love being able to constantly learn and develop my skill set.”

When asked what Jade’s top tips for those looking to get into the industry would be, she said; “know your theory! I’ve learnt that theory side is just as important as practical skills. Before booking an appointment, clients will ask questions to seek solutions to their concerns and knowing your theory will allow you to recommend the best treatments for that client’s wants and needs leading to overall client satisfaction and client loyalty. Social media and recommendations are also very important, these two alone bring in the majority of my clients so you want to ensure clients are going away happy every time. Ask to take photos of your treatment results and ask for reviews. These can form the majority of marketing content you post!”

Jade launched her business Beneath & Beyond in April 2023 with her main services related to skincare. She says, “having suffered with acne and diagnosed with skin cancer in 2020, I wanted to take clients on a journey to better skin health. I wanted to offer beauty therapy with a difference, enhancing the natural beauty of my clients.” Jade works largely mobile across Wolverhampton & Dudley, but is also salon based.

“My slogan is ‘Revive your Mind, Body & Soul’ and for me its not just about performing a treatment, its about the whole experience of going on a journey with me. I have had 15 years experience in marketing, talent development nd coaching roles so I wanted to bring this skillset to the service I offer.”

We asked Jade what is next for her and her business. She says “I have over 10 years experience in nails, all self taught but have also recently completed training with The Beauty Academy in Builder Gel in a Bottle so I’m really exciting to be extending my beauty services to include nails as these are such popular treatments right now and give great results. I’m also completing the final stage of my VTCT qualifications in June this year so I’m excited to keep developing my skills and my business over the coming months and years.”

I made a last minute decision to attend the ‘dry manicure and gel polish’ course and so glad I did! The tutor (Donnamarie) was so passionate and inspiring that she gave me the confidence I needed. Everything was well explained and the group was small enough get the best out of the day.

I have done a few courses at the Cambridge and London venues and loved all of them. Staff is very friendly and professional at the same time which makes it easy to learn the theory and also the techniques. Teachers pay attention to each student and gives honest advises and support. I highly recommend The Beauty Academy for everyone.
